Minister - Rev Brian
Harley |

Brian is married to Janet
and they have three grown up children and they are also registered
General Foster Carers, having looked after one young person for over a
decade and are now looking after another.
He grew up in a Methodist Church in a London suburb and came to a personal faith
in Christ at
the age of 15. He soon became a youth leader and went on to join The
City Temple URC in central London when he and Janet got married in 1983.
He served as an elder and worship leader and worked as an insurance
underwriter in London for 13 years (something in the City!) before feeling
the strong call of God to move on into full time ministry.
He trained at Westminster College, Cambridge and came directly from there to
Shanklin in September 1994.
Brian sees his main gifts as Bible teaching,
leading worship and pastoral care; he is also an able guitarist. As well as
pastoring the local church, he is deeply committed to working with other
Christians on the Island and has been involved in planning and leading
various events. He also regularly takes school assemblies and his wife Janet is one of the founders of
CatURpillars.
He is Chairman of the Committee of
GEAR, The Group for Evangelism and
Renewal within the United Reformed Church and a Council member of the
Evangelical Alliance.
Brian is pictured left speaking at a
GEAR conference.
