Brian
is married to Janet and they have three children, two who are working and one is
at university, and a
teenage foster child, who is at High School.
He grew up in a suburban Methodist Church and came to a personal faith at
the age of 15. He soon became a youth leader and went on to join The
City Temple URC in central London when he and Janet got married in 1983.
He served as an elder and worship leader and worked as an insurance
underwriter in London for 13 years (something in the City!) before feeling
the strong call of God to move on into full time ministry.
He trained at Westminster College, Cambridge and came directly from there to
Shanklin in 1994.
Brian sees his main gifts as Bible teaching,
leading worship and pastoral care; he is also an able guitarist. As well as
pastoring the local church, he is deeply committed to working with other
Christians on the Island and has been involved in planning and leading
various events. He also regularly takes school assemblies and with his wife Janet,
has established a very successful annual Holiday Bible Club for children in
Shanklin. Janet is also one of the founders of CatURpillars.
He is Chairman of the National Committee of
GEAR, The Group for Evangelism and
Renewal within the United Reformed Church.
Brian is pictured left speaking at a
GEAR conference.
